This patient is a 50 year old mother of one who presented to my office with complaints regarding her vaginal labia. Specifically, her labia minora (inner lips of the vagina) were excessively large, and caused her discomfort when she wore tight jeans or participated in activities such as biking or horseback riding. Additionally, she was very self-conscious about the appearance of her genitalia, especially when she wore bikinis.
I felt this patient would be an excellent candidate for a labioplasty (reduction of the vaginal lips). I recommended a modified wedge resection, which reduces the size and protrusion of the labia without causing a lengthy scar alon the edge of the labia. This was performed without problems, and by the next day, the patient was comfortable and noticed a major improvement in her appearance and comfort.
